Background - The Story so Far...

dscf0418The Nauti Buoys were formed in 2008 when Alister Harbord, Richard Carr and Bob Bishop got together to help out at a local fund raising event. The band has gone from strength to strength since then and benefited hugely from the addition of Dave and Pat Killer, doyens of the folk scene and very able musicians. In 2011 Bob left us using the old excuse that he 'wanted to go travelling'. No sooner had his sails faded into the sunset and the rest of us wiped a tear from our eye than up jumped young Mike Dyer (young? Who am I kidding......) who added yet another dimension to the band and it's evolution. In February of 2014 Pat and Dave Killer took a break from the band. In 2015 we wer joined by Steve George (accomplished historic wreck diver and artist) on guitar and percussion. We are also occassionaly joined by Michel Lemoigne, an amazing percussionist from Brittany who has travelled the world following the weird and the wonderful in music (Oh, he's also a pretty accomplished traditional shipwright.)  and by professional violinist Theresa Hinks whose playing lends qualities at times foot tapping and haunting to our songs.

Our music is the songs and tunes of the sea. As a band we live near it, we use it for our living and leisure and have our family history entwined with it. However we try not to take ourselves too seriously and try to add a little humour and pazazz to our act.

We have developed a small but loyal following who seem to like following us from gig to gig if only out of a sense of morbid curiosity.

Why this photo? It's of my boat, I took the photo and I like it. So there.
